Do You Know Who I Am

Do you know who I am?
I am your fellow man.
I know who you are.
When I am standing in the a crowd do you see my face?
I am not the ace of the bunch,
but instead one as old as the ages or as new as a young child.
Do you look at me and wonder is his name Sam?
I wander do you take time to even care who or what I am.
This night is only a sight of what I could be if only you took time to know me.
I wander as you sander by me if the thought enters your mind
I am better than you even  though you don't know me.
Do you see who they are?
They touch your heart with pain and sorrow for all they have been through in life.
I am not a bible figure such as Cane or Able instead I am Sam.

The Golden Years

I woke up this morning and said I am getting old
only the souls of the elderly knows what that means.
I have talked about the golden years
well I am finally sold on what they really mean.
They are not so bold, they are really something,
when you have only medicare to look forward to in life.
Especially those doctors visit that no one seems
to want to pay.
Hey I tell you it is a real treat ,
when the doctor beams at you
and says now Mr Jones this is all the medication you
need to be taking for your health.
What a joke or maybe even a host or nothing to boast about.
When most of our elderly just have medicare
if they buy their medication they will go without food for the month.
How nice it is to belong to the forgotten race of man the elderly!
All of a sudden it seems we don't pay taxes or buy gas or vote.
I wonder how long is this going to last?
The young will some day become old I wonder
are they going to be sold on the golden years?
I pray not so when you read this today
try and remember our elderly with kindness and respect.
They are our beautiful doves who fly so high in the sky,
it is through and by their sweat and tears
without having fears,
we are who we are Americans.
Americans they stand tall and walk the talk
which keeps this country moving
thank God for the elderly without them were would we be?
